Privacy Policy — My Spending Register

My Spending Register ("MSR," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's protected.

Information We Collect

Account information you provide:

  • Email address and password (used for sign-in)
  • Bank account details you choose to enter for your own reference: bank name and an opening balance

Transaction information you enter or import:

  • Date, payee, description, amount, and cleared status for each transaction you add manually or import from a bank file (CSV or QIF)

We do not connect to your bank account, initiate transactions, or move money. All bank details and transactions are entered or imported by you, for your own record-keeping.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide the app's core function: displaying your accounts, transactions, and running balances back to you. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to any third party.

How Your Data Is Stored & Protected

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted Postgres database. Access controls (Row Level Security) restrict every account and transaction record so that only you can read or modify your own data — not other users, and not us, outside of what's needed for support or maintenance.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell or share your personal or financial data with third parties for marketing purposes. Supabase acts as our data processor (hosting infrastructure only). If we add analytics, crash reporting, or other third-party tools in the future, this section will be updated to name them before they go live.

Your Rights & Choices

  • Access & export: you can export a full CSV copy of any account's transactions at any time, directly from the app.
  • Deletion: deleting an account in the app permanently deletes that account and all of its transactions from our systems.
  • Correction: you can edit or delete any transaction or account detail yourself, at any time.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, associated data is permanently removed.

Children's Privacy

MSR is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

International Users

MSR's infrastructure is hosted in the Asia-Pacific region. If you are located outside this region, your information will be transferred to and processed there.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as MSR's features change. We'll update the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
